Today, I have learnt that the documentary “Baby, let your hair hang down will be screened at the DocMiami International Film Festival. Perles Films has coproduced this project with the two USA production companies I am Spartacus Ent and Armada Partners.
The documentary tells the story of the pretty and young actress and comedian from Australia Georgia Van Cuylenberg. Georgia lives and works in Hollywood when suddenly she has Alopecia and she begins to loose her hair. It is a disorder that affects 135 millions of people in the world. The special thing about this work is that far from running to a corner to cry or hiding, she allows the camera to go with her in the journey that is to look for a cure, while she does stand up routines with children that have Alopecia, or while she is going to TV auditions. Georgia wants to be a stimulus for all the alopecians in the world.
After two and a half years, this projet begins to walk in September. For me, this documentary and all the successes that may come from now on, fill me with satisfaction and makes me proud of Georgia in a personal level. I met her when we both just arrived to Los Angeles. We were classmates, and it was clear that the little Australian blonde girl had arrived to the city of dreams to succeed. Six years have passed and they seem six centuries for how intense they have been. Six years have passed, and actually Georgia is succeeding. Not only because she keeps acting, writing and working on TV and Film projects of first category, but specially, because she has been brave enough to show her vulnerability to the world, to help those that feel different to value that difference.
This journey that has been “Baby…” would not have been possible without the work of David M. Rudy, producer and manager from Hollywood. Since he came on board, he has pushed the boat as the logo of his company Armada Partners, and he gave us a big impulse in the moment that we needed more.
Thank you, Georgia, for your neverending optimism, and for teaching us so much. Thank you, David, for your generosity and work on this project. All aboard! The boat of “Baby, let your hair hang down” is leaving…!
